Kindness begins with me

During the month of March, we celebrate International Women's day (8 March), World Down Syndrome Day (21 March) and National Human Rights Day (21 March).

Each of these observances have one thing in common, celebrating groups of people who have not always received acceptance and kindness.

Children who are kind, grow up to be adults who are kind and this is how we change the world.

Like most things, children learn this behaviour from their parents and the adults around them. So this month, I challenge everyone to practice kindness. Whether it is smiling at a stranger or giving a compliment or encouraging word, one kind gesture can change someone's entire day.

We also ask that you participate in World Down Syndrome Day by wearing #LotsOfSocks! The campaign asks that you wear brightly coloured socks (we will be doing this at Tic Toc on 20 March), long socks, printed socks, 1 sock or even 3 socks for 3 chromosomes. If you do not normally wear socks, then please wear them.

2020 Concert Date

This year, we will be holding our annual concert on 11 July. The earlier concert will beat the year end rush, ensure we can maximise teaching time and not suffer the December heat in the Willie Strauss hall.

The concert for Toddlers will take place at Tic Toc on 21 Oct. Parents will not be able to attend, but the concert will be on the dvd.

Concert Costs

A Concert Fee of R130 will be added onto May 2020 statements.

DVDs will be available - price to be advised.

Graduation will take place on Friday 4 December, but more information will be sent out closer to the time.

Photos will be compulsory for all Grade Rs and the Grade RRs who are graduating. These will be taken in November and the cost will be confirmed asap.

Swimming open week

Swimming open week will take place between 20 and 24 April. Parents are encouraged to attend their child's swimming lesson during this week. Certificates will also be handed out.

There will be no swimming lessons between May and August. Although the pool is heated, we don't want children to catch colds while getting in and out of the pool. Swimming is not paid for during this time.
We will be closed between 10 and 13 April for Easter.
